Frequently asked questions about Flare tip replacement and flare working

  • What is a flare tip and why does it need to be replaced?
A flare tip is the top part of a torch (flare) used to safely burn gases in industrial processes. Over time, it is exposed to extreme temperatures and wear, requiring periodic replacement to maintain safe and efficient operation.
  • How long does it take to replace a flare tip?
The actual replacement of a flare tip normally takes 4-5 days, including rigging and dismantling of equipment. The duration of the project may vary depending on weather conditions, location and complexity.
  • How is the replacement of a flare tip performed?
We use a custom-designed A-frame, which can handle flare tips weighing up to 1.8 tons. A specialized climbing team of four people carries out the work, which includes dismantling the existing flare tip, installing the new one, and performing the necessary inspection and testing.
  • How do you ensure safety when working in flare?
Safety is our top priority. We use certified access technicians (IRATA certified) and follow strict HSE procedures for working at height. We conduct thorough risk assessments and ensure that all equipment and personnel meet the highest safety standards.
  • Can the flare replacement be carried out by helicopter?
Yes, we can assist with preparing flares for replacement or installation by helicopter, which can streamline the operation in some cases.
