Effective decommissioning with a focus on safety and sustainability

Decommissioning

About this service:

AAK Energy has supplied multidisciplinary climbing teams and equipment for decom projects both on and offshore on a number of projects over the last 20 years both in Norway and in the UK/Dutch sector.

Our multidisciplinary climbing teams are experienced/competent in burning, demolition, rigging, welding, scaffolding, electrical work and more.

Using Access Techniques (RAT) for work at height will in many cases have a significant positive effect on the duration of demolition activities, compared to traditional methods of access.

In broad terms, the demolition consists of creating a split zone between Jacket and Topside.

Demolition is often done using cutting and subsequent transport of the structure/pipe to a crane using cross-hauling with hoists.

Our methods provide efficient and flexible access to the structure to be removed, or to lifting points to be checked with NDT.

The multidisciplinary teams have combined expertise in Rigging, Inspection/NDT, Cutting and Burning, and Mechanical.

Typical deliveries within decom from Norwegian Group:

  • Climbing team for front running/preparations before demolition
  • Multidisciplinary climbing teams for rigging/cutting/cutting and burning
  • NDT inspectors for welding inspection and structural inspection before demolition / heavy lifting (UT, ET, MT, VT – level 2)
  • Scaffolding services and equipment
  • Welders and welding equipment
  • Engineering support (Onshore engineering support and experienced offshore team leaders, lifting approval expert, welding and NDT engineering services and methods)
